Blindsighted

Could sight be blinding us? It’s an odd question I know. But perhaps you’ve heard the following, “What do blind people see when they dream?”. It’s a fascinating question, one that I’ve tried to understand. Ultimately however, you realize that if someone has been blind their whole life they don’t see anything in their dreams, but rather they feel things, they smell things, they hear things. I don’t know about you, but the only strong sense engaged in my dreams is sight and maybe some audio. Sight is high-jacking everything. We are dominated by it, in sleep and wake. And while I am grateful for it, in a way it’s like a bright light, blinding us to everything else.
